How to Know if Your Website is Mobile-Friendly

July 25, 2015
Brooke Yu

Over the years, the use of mobile devices has increased. Rather than logging onto our desktops or laptops, many of us use our smartphones to search the Internet.

In April 2015, Google released a new search algorithm that has a significant impact on mobile search results. If a website is not mobile-friendly, the website will not rank high in Google’s mobile search results. Which can significantly impair how companies and brands are discovered by potential customers who are searching the web on their mobile phones.

In order to for a website to be considered mobile-friendly, Google requires the following: a defined viewing area, content that flows in the viewport, fonts that scale, easy-to-touch elements, and visual design and motion.

If you are uncertain if your website is considered mobile-friendly, simply complete the Google Mobile-Friendly Test: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/

The website test is extremely simple. Enter your webpage URL, and Google will run a very quick analysis. Should you receive a not mobile-friendly result, Google will supply you with the reason(s) why. Consider the Google Mobile-Friendly Test a quick diagnostics test. The results Google presents you can help you understand your next steps.

In today's mobile world, it's critical that your website is a mobile-friendly website.
