At Cloud Construct, we are a talented and fun-loving group. Though we all work remotely from our homes each day, we still maintain a high level of camaraderie through daily conversations, virtual happy hours, and work together days (when safe to do so).
Get to know the newest addition to the Cloud team, Client Partner, Jon Starke! In this Employee Spotlight, get to know more about Jon, his favorite vacation, and what he’s looking forward to as part of the Cloud team!
Meet Jon!
Cloud Construct: If you could switch your job with anyone else within Cloud Construct, whose job would you want?
Jon Starke: I would want to have the knowledge and skills to be a developer or engineer. I’ve always been fascinated by how games, apps, systems, and websites are created and think it would be pretty rewarding to build something for a client.
CC: Best vacation you’ve been to?
JS: I spent about a month in Oceania exploring Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. I was lucky enough to spend time in both larger cities and to explore some more remote areas. Highlights include snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, catching a show at the Sydney Opera house, visiting Hobbiton and road tripping throughout NZ, and celebrating Christmas through a Category 4 cyclone in Fiji.
CC: If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to see?
JS: I would’ve loved to go to Woodstock. I grew up close to Bethel and every time I would drive through the area, I couldn’t imagine what it would’ve been like in 1969. The music, the crowds, and the history it made would’ve been a great experience and memory to have.
CC: What has been the most important innovation you have witnessed in your lifetime?
JS: I think seeing the internet going from a luxury to an essential utility has been the most important innovation of my life, if not throughout history. Internet and technology advancements throughout my life have come so far in so little time. I think back to the days where taking calls on your watch and talking cars and houses were from a sci-fi movie or video game and how kids today will have no idea what a dial up tone is. I hope to see similar world changing innovations in healthcare and medicine within my lifetime that we currently only see in futuristic movies.
CC: What is on your bucket list?
JS: I’d like to travel to all 50 states and seven continents. I’m currently at 30 and four and have some more planning to do! I’d also like to run all six world marathon majors and have two down and four to go!
CC: What is the best book you have ever read?
JS: It’s a tie between Jurassic Park & Lost World by Michael Crichton.
CC: What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?
JS: When you’re old enough, invest every dollar you have in that company with the bright neon colored computers named after a fruit!
CC: Where is your favorite place to eat?
JS: Give me some oysters and a lobster roll somewhere on Cape Cod.
CC: Which one would you want most – flying cars, robot housekeepers, or moon cities?
JS: Moon Cities! Traffic is bad enough on the ground and nobody wants to deal with a malfunctioning robot, I’ve seen those movies…
CC: What is on your wish list for the next 10 years with Cloud Construct?
JS: I’d like to help generate client opportunities and facilitate lasting partnerships that allow the company to grow and become a nationally recognized leader in software solutions and web development.
